“Freedom is never really won. You earn it, and win it in every generation.”
Coretta Scott King (My Life with MLK, Jr.)
The face of America is changing… as it has for generations, but now, it is changing at a greater velocity. We are on a new course. The topic of what it means to be “American” is popular fodder for everyday AM talk radio, cable news, as well as Red and Blue pundits. Glancing forward to the year 2043—our demographic crossroads—we observe minorities displacing majorities, daily. We are becoming the one people described in our Declaration of Independence. We continue to argue about two, sometimes conflicting, ideals—equality and freedom. Our multicultural interactions generate a myriad of human stories. As we seek our future, as we re-imagine our democracy, and question our right to rise in the midst of these dynamic changes, we are calling this convergence of forces THE 2043 PROJECT. What is our potential?
THE 2043 PROJECT media series: An audio and video series for multiple platform dissemination, which will focus on the stories generated by the changing demographics in America. The stories produced will be directly based on individuals, communities, and groups, and founded from research and EVOLVING ANALYSIS from the interconnectedness of ethnic, economic, demographic, education, immigration, gender, culture, media, politics, voting rights, and public policy.
The Series will illuminate the personalities and the dynamic forces that aim to form new electoral majorities, pressing for greater democratic change, and opportunity. It will also introduce leaders emerging from business, science, and artistic backgrounds. The Series will likely be in a magazine format, available in broadcast, and through video streaming. Segments will be uploaded into shorter digital modules that are best suited for viewing on cell phones, iPads, and computers.
